House Dance Final 2017

House Dance Final 2017

Sir William Borlase's Grammar School

The Borlase Theatre
West Street, Marlow

Dear Parents
I am delighted to invite you to the final of Sir William Borlase's Grammar School's House Dance Competition 2017. The Dance department aims to provide greater participation, achievement and enjoyment in all forms of Dance. The final performances are celebration of Dance at Borlase and a credit to the enthusiasm of the school community. It will take place in the Theatre on Tuesday 14th November at 7pm with guest adjudicators who will be marking our students on technique and performance.
The evening will consist of solo and group performances in a variety of styles from four categories, junior, intermediate, senior and siblings. The heats took place in October and involved 195 entries. A group of outstanding and committed performers from different houses have been selected for the final to showcase their talents. This final event will crown one house as House Dance Champions 2017.

We are also running a House Lighting Competition in collaboration with the dance performances. To enter, students had to describe how they would light 3 dances for which images were provided. The selected finalists will be lighting some of the dances in the show and one house will be the House Lighting winners.
The students performing in the competition final will be working extremely hard rehearsing their pieces and are thrilled about performing their own work. If your son/daughter is a finalist they must attend a compulsory technical and dress rehearsal on Monday 6 November 3.30-5.30pm and Monday 13 November 4.00-7.00pm, and also be available from 5.30pm on the evening of the performance.

I do hope that you will come along and support what promised to be a wonderful evening of Dance.

Many thanks for your support.
I look forward to seeing you at the performance.

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Claire Hindley
Dance Department
