Year 7 Dance Performance

Year 7 Dance Performance

Sir William Borlase's Grammar School

The Borlase Theatre
West Street, Marlow
Buckinghamshire
SL7 2BR

I am writing to invite you to Sir William Borlase's Grammar School's cross-curricular project performance
in the school theatre on Friday 14th July 2017. This very exciting dance performance will involve every
student from year 7 performing with their class.
The performance entitled 'Flags Dots Dashes Signs' took its inspiration from the PSHCE & PE disability
awareness day, which Year 7 pupils took part in earlier this year. This day saw students take part in
seated volleyball, blind football, and multiple presentations. The objective of the dance project is to make
students aware of a variety of nonverbal forms of communication that are used in our society, including
sign language, morse code, braille and semaphore.
The dance pieces have been created during year 7 lessons and it has been a collaborative process between the students and the teacher. The students will also have the opportunity to work with our technical team and create an exciting and interactive performance in the school theatre.
The dance department will be ordering t-shirts for the students to wear for the performance. We will be
asking for a voluntary donation of £7.00 from each student for their t-shirt which they will be allowed to
take home after the performance. As well as the t-shirts we ask that the performers wear plain black
leggings or jogging bottoms for the performance.
Please either log in to Parentpay or return the slip below, along with payment of £7.00 to the
Finance Office by Friday 7th July. If you need a copy of your activation details please email
finance@swbgs.com.
The performance will commence at 3pm and will last for approximately 30 minutes. Tickets are on sale on
positickets.co.uk priced at £4 for adults and £2 for children. I do hope you would like to come along and
see the students perform as they have been working extremely hard on this project.
Please note that there is absolutely no parking in the school grounds. Please respect our neighbours in
near-by streets by avoiding parking in private or designated areas. The public car parks in West Street
and at the back of Sainsbury's should be used. Your cooperation is much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Yours sincerely
Miss N Campanaro
