Following their sell out show ‘Around Reading in 80ish Minutes’ at Reading’s Comedy Festival 2008, see ‘The Reading Berks’ perform the Thames Valley Pop Up Sketchbook live at the Henley Fringe over four nights from Wednesday 22nd July to Saturday 25th July 2009.
The Thames Valley Pop Up Sketchbook is a comedy sketch show written and performed by Reading's premier Reading-based writing group, from Reading town ‘The Reading Berks’.
Ever wondered ... why all the lepers lived in Whitley? Why people found dead babies in the Thames? What was recorded in the Doomsday book about a stone lion? What a chav is and where you can find one? How Henley chefs are coping with the credit munch? Why you’ll drive in circles around Basingstoke? And why friendly bombs should fall on Slough?
The answers to these questions and many more will be found in a whirlwind 60 minute tour of Thames Valley inhabitants past and present. From the famous Sir John Madjeski and Ricky Gervais – to the not so famous – town councillors and cavemen. You’ll visit them where they feel most at home.... lost in shopping centres and stuck on the M4.
The Thames Valley Pop Up Sketchbook is All talking, Some singing… less dancing.
All profits from the show will be donated to a local charity: Reading Single Homeless Project. Help us bring Henley’s homeless into Reading to enjoy the surbuban consumerist delights of the Oracle.

*Helen Terry*
HELEN O'TROY - She's the new Comedy Beautician in town - and she wants to launch a Thousand Gags just for you.
Trouble is, she thinks a gag is something "to stop customers talking".....thrown out of numerous beauty schools, make up stores and salons, she now just wants to help beautify the lovely people of Henley - its women AND ITS MENFOLK. Be afraid, be very afraid....but also expect to laugh - a lot.
Brought to you by comedy writer and performer, Helen Terry - "surreal, nonsensical - and very funny".
